Cruise Line Spotlight: Royal Caribbean International Dining
Nowadays eating on a cruise can be confusing. Determining what food is included and what food is an upcharge can vary greatly from cruise line to cruise line and from ship to ship.
Dining on RCI is a truly enjoyable experience for all guests. RCI will do their best to accommodate any special needs from guests. Accommodations that are available include: Food Allergies, Vegetarians, Gluten Free, Low Fat, Low Sodium, Lactose Free, Kosher, Celiac and Indian Style Vegetarian. If you require any assistance with your meals please make sure to contact RCI in advance with your requests as soon as possible (some specialty meals require 90 days advance notice).
Included in every Royal Caribbean International Cruise for no extra charge is the main dining rooms, room service and the Windjammer buffet. Coffee, Tea and Water are also included in the price of your cruise. Any other alcoholic or non alcoholic drinks are extra. Guests are able to purchase different levels of drink packages during their cruise. Drink packages range from $8.50 per day to $55 per day.
RCI offers two choices of dining on their ships: Fixed Time Dining and Flexible Time Dining.
Fixed Time Dining is traditional cruise style dining. Guests will dine each night at the same time with the same waitstaff and dining companions. Guest will be able to choose from two dining times when they book their cruise 1st seating or 2nd seating.
There are two different Flexible Time Dining options on Royal Caribbean International. With My Time Dining guests are able to reserve a table in the main dining room between 6:30 and 9:30 each night. Guests who choose My Time Dining will be allowed to book their reservations once they board the ship and are encouraged to do so. Guests who do not prebook a time may be subject to waits when they arrive at the restaurant.
The second, Flexible Time Dining is only available on Anthem of the Seas and Quantum of the Seas and is called Dynamic Dining. With Dynamic Dining Guests are able to choose a different restaurant and time every night of their cruise. Guests can try a new restaurant each night or stick with a favorite. Again booking is encouraged to avoid waits.

Both Flexible Time Dining options require guests to pre-pay their gratuities.
One last option is available for guests with children aged 3-11 called My Family Dining. My Family Dining allows families the chance to enjoy dinner together for the first 40 minutes during the 1st seating in the main dining room. Children will be quickly served their dinner and then they will be able to head off to play games and other evening fun, while the adults are left behind to enjoy a leisurely dinner.
As you can see RCI offers choices that make dining easy for all different types of traveling parties.
