Dining Spotlight: Disney Dining Plan

Walt Disney World guests purchasing a vacation package with room and tickets are eligible to add on a Disney Dining Plan.

What is the Disney Dining Plan, you ask? Disney Dining Plan is a prepaid meal plan offered to guest staying at a Walt Disney World Resort. There are multiple different plans to choose from to best suit your family. However, the most common plan is the Magic Your Way Package plus Disney Dining Plan (we will refer to this plan as the “Standard Dining Plan”). The standard dining plan includes the following per person per NIGHT: • One Quick Service Meal (QS) • One Table Service Meal (TS) (Reservations HIGHLY Recommended) • Two Snacks And each person in your party will receive: • One Resort Refillable Drink Mug (pictured above) The per night price of the standard dining plan is $69.35 per adult and $24.95 per child, Children under 3 are allowed to share with a family member. Disney also offers a lower cost, “Magic your Way Package plus Quick Service Disney Dining Plan”, or you can upgrade to the “Magic Your Way Package plus Deluxe Disney Dining Plan”. My family typically does the “Standard” or “Deluxe” (Hey, don’t judge, we LOVE to eat!). How does the dining plan work? The day your vacation package begins your MagicBand will be activated and your dining credits will be loaded onto your band. These credits are yours to use at your convenience, however you’d like. Below I will list some examples: Sally and her family of 4 (2 adults 2 kids ages 5 & 9) will be visiting WDW 3/26/17-4/1/17. They are staying at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and have purchased the “standard” Disney Dining Plan. Sally will have 24 counter service meals, 24 table service meals, and 48 snacks credits loaded to her “account”. 3/26/17 Sally has Reservations at Chef Mickey’s for dinner (Using 4 of her TS credits) 3/27/17 Sally uses Snack Credits for Breakfast in the resort food court (Using 4 of her Snack credits) 3/27/17 Sally’s family eats lunch at Pecos Bills Tall Tale Inn & Café in Magic Kingdom (using 4 QS credits) 3/27/17 Sally’s family stops and gets a Mickey Pretzel for 2 of the family member (using 2 Snack credits) 3/27/17 Sally’s family has reservations at Be Our Guest for Dinner (using 4 TS credits) You are not limited to use only the Table Service credits at dinner or only the Quick Service for Lunch, as mentioned before they are yours to use however you’d like. Is the Disney Dining Plan worth it? Well that is for you to decide. I personally think it’s worth every single penny! You’ve gotta eat right? Then why not pay for your meals ahead of time making your vacation package all-inclusive. I highly suggest you take a look at the restaurants you want to eat at during your Walt Disney World Vacation, look over the menu and price out what you would like to eat.

Check out this example:

1 Adult= $69.35 (gratuities not included) Breakfast Snack Credit: Food Court Assorted Muffin $3.25 Lunch Quick Service: Pecos Bill’s Taco Burger $15.99 and fountain drink $3.29 Dinner Table Service: Be Our Guest Grilled Strip Steak $35.00, Dessert “The Grey Stuff” $5.00 and fountain drink $3.29

Mid Day Snack: Mickey Pretzel $5.69

TOTAL = $71.51(gratuities not included)

If your family loves character meals like mine then the dining plan is a MUST! One adult price for dinner at the all you care to eat buffet at Chef Mickey’s is $59.99. With a wide variety of food at each restaurant location and the opportunity to meet some of your favorite Disney characters…who wouldn’t want to experience that?

Now that you have learned the basics of the Disney Dining Plan, who will be adding this amazing add-on to your next vacation package?
