Cruise Spotlight: Castaway Cay

Did you know that Disney Cruise Line has their own private island? It's called Castaway Cay, said like a key, you don't want the pronunciation police after you! This paradise is reserved exclusively for guests on Disney Cruise Line Caribbean and Bahamian cruises. Let me tell you a little about what makes this island ears above any other.

Castaway Cay has something for everyone to enjoy, the most obvious thing being the gorgeous beach. This is one beautiful place to relax and enjoy your day! Best of all the beach has separate areas for families, teens, and adults only. If you have a ton of young kids, like me, you don't have to worry that they are bothering the grown-ups that are trying to relax. Or if you are a grown-up trying to relax without the kids (and know that I am SO jealous of you!) you don't have to worry about my obnoxious kids ruining your day. Perfect for everyone! These beaches are set up with chairs and umbrella's, there are also sports such as volleyball and tetherball set up on the Sports beach.

The kids will have so many things to see and do you most likely won't hear a single "I'm bored" all day. That alone is worth every penny! Pelican Plunge is a 2,400 square foot water play area and platform that offers two water slides and an enormous bucket dump which drops water on the delighted youngsters. Spring A Leak water play area has, you guessed it, water spraying everywhere from "broken" pipes, your littlest ones will love this place! There is a game pavilion that offers foosball, table tennis and more. If your littles love characters they are in luck, from the meet and greets with classic characters to a dance party with Lilo and Stitch, kids of all ages are sure to have a great time!

Looking for a little time without the kiddos? Castaway Cay has you covered! Scuttles Cove offers child care with Disney counselors for ages 3 – 12. From water play areas to a whale bone excavation site your little ones will have a blast while you sit back and actually relax. Yes, it' included with your cruise! Once you've dropped the kids off head on over to Serenity Bay, the adults-only beach. Here you will find specialty frozen drinks, open-air massage cabanas, adults-only dining and best of all …. quiet time!

The beach is only one of many things to do while you in paradise. Enjoy many shore excursions such as feeding stingrays, bike rentals, fishing, boat rides, parasailing, fantastic snorkeling adventures and more. There is something for every excitement level.

Hungry while on the island? If you're like me and like to eat all day every day here is some great news, there is no need to go back to the ship for lunch! Yep, it's provided right there on the island and it's included in your cruise. How can you beat that?! Barbecue style food is provided and it's all you can eat buffet style They even have soft serve ice cream.... See, it really is paradise here! There are a few bars on the beach where you can purchase drinks as well.

If you are looking for a Castaway Cay souvenir to remember your fabulous day be sure to stop by one of the gift shops on the island, this is the only place these can be purchased. There are two to choose from, She Sells Sea Shells... and Everything Else and Buy the Sea Shore. Both sell souvenirs with the Castaway Cay logo and any supplies you should need for your day on the beach.

This is one fabulous private island, your family will be sure to love every minute on this Bahamian paradise. With towels, beach chairs, umbrella's, transportation, entertainment, and lunch all included you will be sure to see why it has been chosen as the top-rated cruise line private island destination.
