This summer, Disney will be bringing more Pixar to Disney’s California Adventure Park when Paradise Pier is transformed into Pixar Pier. This newly themed area will bring newly themed attractions, dining locations and merchandise throughout the land. The Pixar Pier will feature four new neighborhoods that represent some of our favorite Pixar stories.
The first neighborhood will be based on our favorite Pixar superheroes, The Incredibles. California Screamin’ will be closing on January 8th to be rethemed into the new Incericoaster. The new theming will include a mid-century-style loading area, new character interactions and the ride vehicles will have a whole new look. The Incredicoaster will reopen this summer when Pixar Pier is opened.

The next two neighborhoods have very few details released but here is what we know so far. The second neighborhood will feature Toy Story. This will of course be anchored by the popular Toy Story Mania! Next will be a neighborhood themed to Inside Out and feature a new family-friendly attraction that will open at a later date.
The last neighborhood will be a collection of many of our favorite Pixar stories. Mickey’s Fun Wheel is getting a new look. Mickey’s friendly face will still be seen from the Paradise Bay side of the fun wheel but the 24 gondolas will feature different Pixar characters. The Games of the Boardwalk will also transform to feature Pixar characters. Starting January 8th, Mickey’s Fun Wheel, Games of the Boardwalk and Sideshow Shirts will close for the transformation.
To make way for a new lounge and grill that will offer spectacular views of both Paradise Bay and Pixar Pier, Ariel’s Grotto and the Cove bar will be closing on January 8th. The Cove Bar will be reopening for a brief time in April before closing up for its permanent transformation.
Paradise Park will be the new name for the areas of Paradies Pier that will host the Paradise Gardens, Silly Symphony Swings, Jumpin’ Jellyfish, Goofy’s Sky School, Golden Zephyr and The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure.
Pixar Pier will open during the limited-time Pixar Fest celebration, which begins April 13. The celebration will include the new “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” fireworks as well as the return of Pixar Play Parade and “Paint the Night” parade, and much more throughout the entire Disneyland Resort.
You can read more about what’s coming to Pixar Pier in the November issue of Disney twenty-three magazine, from our friends at D23: The Official Disney Fan Club. Keep an eye on Disney Parks Blog for more as the permanent transformation of Pixar Pier gets underway!
