“World’s Leading Large Ship Cruise Line for 2016” was awarded by the World Travel Awards to the Norwegian Cruise Line Getaway. This should get your attention on how amazing of the Getaway must be. I took a tour of this ship a couple of years ago and had a hard time leaving. I wanted to stay and experience all it had to offer.

The ship has 28 different dining experiences to choose from. Nine of the restaurants are at no extra cost. The no cost restaurants include the main restaurant with floor to ceiling windows with a large dance floor. The main restaurant takes you back to the days of Fountain Bleau in the 1950’s. Other options include the Garden Café, O’Sheehans, Shanghai’s – Noodle Bar and Taste and O’Sheehan’s Irish Pub – Open 24 hours a day.

The Waterfront is an industry first on an open air promenade designed to connect guests with the sea on a ¼ of a mile oceanfront. Two of the dining options on The Waterfront include the Ocean Blue and LaCucina with delectable seafood options.

Entertainment on board includes the Broadway Musical – Million Dollar Quartet. Another entertainment venue is the “Illusionarium”. It is a great place for the whole family to enjoy magic. Three levels of action packed activities can be found at the sports complex. You can find five water slides, walk the 8-foot plank over the side of the ship, miniature golf and ropes courses.

Twenty-two bars and lounges are featured on the Getaway. You can dance to the ultraviolet moves at Bliss Ultra Lounge. Play English pool at the O’Sheehan’s Bar and Grill. A great place to celebrate a special occasion would be the Magnum’s Champagne and Wine Bar. A bar inspired by the original ice hotel in Scandinavia, is the Svedka & Inniskillin Ice Bar where the bars, walls, seats and glasses are all made out of ice and kept at 17 degrees.

The Thermal Suite pass is available for a fee for the week. You have a view of the ocean at the front of the ship with heated recliners to relax on. It is a place that offers peace and tranquility where you will find tea and orange water at your liking. The pools in the spa have several options to include heat and water therapy.

On April 2, 9, 16 and the 23rd this ship has seven day cruises to the Western Caribbean and a 16 Day Trans-Atlantic from Miami to Copenhagen on April 30, 2018. Starting on May 16, there a 9 Day Baltic Capitals cruises offered till the middle of October. The Getaway takes a transatlantic back to Miami for the Western Caribbean Cruises at the end of October.
